Report of the initiative to promote Inner Wheel
nner Wheel District 314, in its initiative to promote Inner Wheel, has installed a giant Diwali lantern, or kandeel, at the Cooperage Grounds in Mumbai. Made from over 30,000 recycled PET bottles, it is one of the largest of its kind in India. The lantern was inaugurated on October 27, 2024, by Inner Wheel District Chairman Prerana Raichur, Project Chairman and PDC Mita Sheth, District Secretary Mona Gyani, District ESO PDC Kanak Saxena, and PDC Sohini Doshi, with esteemed guests including former Corporator Makarand Narwekar, Social Activist Bella Shah, and Curator Minali Thakkar, and has now been opened to the public.
Association President Sunita Jain visited the project on October 19 during its initial stages, showing her support and appreciation. The project was coordinated by Jigna Jain, Nilima Mashru, Jigna Mistry, Ajit Kaur Dhillon, Anupama Dalvi, and Bhavan Manraja, with valuable support from the 77 Presidents of Inner Wheel District 314. Hundreds of visitors are expected to gather at the grounds to take selfies and photographs as a lasting memento.
