Inner Wheel District 314 – Golden Tapestry: A Woven Vision
Inner Wheel District 314 has entered its 50th year since formation. It has over the years, grown to be largest district by membership and the scale of projects undertaken. This has been possible due to the vision laid down by the founders – PDC Silla Ardeshir and PAP Raksha Mehta and thereafter the galaxy of District Chairman who have upped the ante year-on-year.
The celebrations, aptly titled Golden Tapestry – A Woven Vision was held at The Renaissance, Powai on Nov.19th & 20th under the able leadership of DC Dr. Devangi Vakharia with IIW President Phyllis Charter as the Chief Guest, Association President Mamta Gupta as the Guest of Honour. PIIWP Dr Pallavi Shah as Convener and PDC Jyoti Doshi as Co-Convener meticulously planned the event and alongwith DEC team, ensured the program on all the days went off smoothly.
All the Past District Chairman and dignitaries were felicitated for leading the District and their continued service to Society. DG of Rotary District 3141 Mr. Harjit Singh and of Rotary District 3142 Dr. Mohan Chandavarkar also attended the evening celebrations and while felicitating the IW District 314, announced their contributions to the District projects. District thanks them for their presence and support.
The members enjoyed lively interaction with the keynote speaker Smt Smriti Irani, Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development and Textiles.
The evening ended with Good wishes by Chief Guest IIW President Phyllis Charter and Guest of Honour Mamta Gupta and a Bollywood based Odissi dance performance by Jhelum Paranjape & Troupe.
The following day saw the dance performances from the members of Dist314 and from the members from other Districts
All participants enjoyed two days of full-to dhammal, bonhomie and interaction with members of other clubs. At the venue were several stalls put up by leading brands and all participants did indulge in purchasing items of their choice, especially sarees, dress materials and decorative items which will serve as moments to cherish.
